The 2016 Mazda CX-3 is the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year

After a long and arduous process, the 2016 Mazda CX-3 was named the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada. The 2016 CX-3 was also nominated for the title of Green Utility of the Year by AJAC.

More than 70 journalist members of AJAC voted the Mazda CX-3 to the top for 2016, a decision that was obviously well received by Mazda.

“We are absolutely delighted that AJAC members have voted for the Mazda CX-3 as the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year,” said Vincent Reboul, Director of Marketing, Mazda Canada. “Being chosen over the very worthy competition we faced is a strong endorsement of everything the CX-3 brings to the table: show-stopping KODO design, excellent real-world fuel efficiency thanks to SKYACTIV Technology, and all-weather capability with Mazda’s predictive i-ACTIV AWD system.”

Fuel-efficient and powerful engine for the 2016 Mazda CX-3

The members of AJAC were especially impressed with the fuel-efficient yet powerful engine found in the Mazda CX-3. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivers 146 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque, and of course the full suite of SKYACTIV components.

SKYACTIV helps Mazda vehicles offer responsive and quick accelerations, plenty of passing power, agile handling and smooth performances on the road, while also helping reduce fuel consumption by making the vehicles lighter and more efficient. That means that the CX-3 isn’t working as hard when you are pushing it a little bit.

Average fuel economy ratings for the CX-3 are 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway when equipped with front-wheel drive, and 7.3 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway when you opt for all-wheel drive. This helped the CX-3 also get nominated for the title of Green Utility Vehicle of the Year as stated previously.

The subcompact Mazda CX-3 is offered in three distinct versions. Its base version, the GX, offers a rear-view camera, a seven-inch Mazda Connect screen and cruise control, all starting at $ 20,695.
