That's not all—this new generation of models delivers breathtaking performance and greater fuel efficiency thanks to optimized plug-in hybrid variants. It is this philosophy that gave birth to a vehicle like the Mazda CX-90.
Mazda's midsize SUV checks all the right boxes. It's a model that meets the needs of the entire family, remains highly enjoyable to drive, and lacks nothing when it comes to technology. In fact, if it weren't for the Mazda badge on the grille, one could easily mistake it for a luxury vehicle—a trend that has become increasingly evident across most Mazda models in recent years.
Trim Levels and Pricing
The 2026 Mazda CX-90 lineup is divided into two categories. On one side are the conventional gasoline-powered models, while on the other are the plug-in hybrid variants.
The gasoline-powered lineup starts at $47,100, which is excellent value for a vehicle in this segment. Next come the GS-L and Turbo GT trims, starting at $51,100 and $55,700 respectively. The GT-P follows at $59,650. Finally, the Signature trim sits at the top of the range with a starting price of $63,650, and it has nothing to envy from its German luxury rivals.
As for the plug-in hybrid model, four configurations are available, with pricing ranging from $49,999 to $69,650.
Category and Competition
The 2026 Mazda CX-90 competes in a segment that has effectively replaced the minivan, pickup truck, and traditional utility vehicle for many buyers. Three-row midsize SUVs are among the most demanding vehicle categories in the industry, as buyers tend to have very high expectations.

Once again, Mazda has done an excellent job with the CX-90, which projects a luxurious and refined character through its design. It's a discreet vehicle, yet it certainly doesn't go unnoticed. It is available in a selection of elegant exterior colors.
Inside, the cabin is understated and upscale. I particularly appreciate the steering wheel feel, and the overall atmosphere of the interior is very pleasant. The CX-90 offers an exceptionally comfortable driving position, and the quality of its interior craftsmanship is simply flawless.
Performance
The Japanese automaker's SUV offers two mechanical configurations, starting with a turbocharged 3.3-litre inline-six engine paired with a mild-hybrid system. This setup produces 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque while maintaining an average fuel consumption rating of 9.3 L/100 km, which is excellent for a vehicle of this size.
Next is the high-output version of the same powertrain. Here, output rises to 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque when using premium fuel. In both cases, power is sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive comes standard.
Finally, there is the plug-in hybrid powertrain. This setup combines a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with an electric motor. Total output stands at 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque when using premium fuel. This version can travel approximately 42 kilometres in all-electric mode thanks to its 17.8-kWh battery pack.
